Area of Concern Risk to Children Solution/Mitigation Post Activity
Consent to attend events No prior acknowledgement by parents prior to event, no point of contact, safety once event completed. Ensure parents are present when event is taking place. Get written or verbal consent from parent prior. Coaches to ensure all children are collected by parent/carer before leaving the event themselves.
Consent for photography & filming Photos & videos may be used inappropriately and put a child at riskof harm or abuse. Parents may not wish for their child to have photos or be filmed. Prior consent given by parents during registration process each year. Photographers within the club are DBS checked and safeguarding trained. Our club photographers are required to get permission from opposition team coach/manager and referee prior to a match Photos only used in closed club groups not open to the general public. Prior consent asked beforehand, consent requested if photos are to be used outside of these circumstances, example, newspaper.
Consent for Social Media Photos & videos may be used inappropriately and put a child at risk of harm or abuse Photos & videos only used with prior consent from parents/carers. Photos & videos are not shared publicly unless for club promotion etc where prior consent is requested. Ensure that any photos or videos posted follow our safeguarding policy
Suitability of club coaches, volunteers and committee Children may be at risk of harm or abuse without the correct checks being performed. All coaches, volunteers and committee required to have a DBS check and complete a safeguarding course before they can work with children within the club. They are also required to read all club policies and codes of conduct. CWO to ensure all checks are up to date and relevant for the role within the club.
Staffing ratios High ratio levels can lead to mistakes being made and children out at risk. The younger the children the higher lower the ratio needs to be All coaches aware of player/coach ratio. Both male and female coaches available for mixed genders. Ratios strictly adhered to by our club None
Travel arrangements Risk of harmto childwithout prior consent from a parent/carer, risk of child going with unknown person/s Prior written or verbal consent to be given before travelling with a coach, volunteer or committee member. All associates of the club DBS checked and safeguarding trained and are required to read the club code of conduct and policies CWO to ensure all checks are up to date and relevant for the role within the club. Ensure child is returned to parent/carer safely
Arrangements for referral of concerns and allegations Child may be subject to harm or abuse. Concerned party unable to report allegation. Club has a robust policy in place detailing how to raise a concern. CWO contact details readily available on our website and social media. Club also details list of external links and phone numbers to call. CWO monitors concerns or allegations continuously. Continue to adhere club Safeguarding Policy
